This is the companion CD for IRIX 6.4 for Origin, Onyx2 and OCTANE, and contains the Indigo Magic Desktop and various desktop applications. This CD replaces the previous IRIX 6.4 for Origin, Onyx2, and OCTANE Applications, February1997 CD with the following exceptions:

1. Insignia's SoftWindows95 version 4.0 is now shipping on a separate CD.
2. We are no longer supporting the Xing Streamworks Player.

Notes about the products

The System Administration tools (sysadmdesktop 6.4) on this CD are not compatible with Netscape Communicator 4.x versions (which have not released from Silicon Graphics at the time this CD is being released). If you are downloading the latest Communicator 4.x versions over the web, you will need to obtain a patch to sysadmdesktop from Silicon Graphics to make sysadmdesktop tools work correctly with Communicator 4.x.

Installation Information

• IMPORTANT: If you are installing all of IRIX, you should first insert the IRIX 6.4 for Origin, Onyx2, and OCTANE CD. Software Manager will then prompt you to load any additional CD's such as this one before making your installation selections or beginning the installation. Loading all CD's will allow you to avoid conflicts caused by product dependencies across the CD's.
• Much of this software may be pre-installed if you are purchasing a new system after the software release date. These products will appear as 'same version' in Software Manager.
• This software is supported only on Origin 200, Origin 2000, Onyx2 and OCTANE systems.
• You may choose to read the release notes for products before installing them. You can now view the release notes easily from Software Manager: when you click on the product, the product name will highlight in blue if there are release notes available. Simply click again on the link to bring up the Release Notes window.
• To view the release notes for patches, open a unix shell and type:

  cd /CDROM/relnotes <Enter> 
  ./CDgrelnotes <Enter> 
  

• To install this software:
  1. When you are finished browsing this README, click Dismiss below.
  2. Press the Customize Installation button in Software Manager and check the products you want to install.
  3. Press Start.
